Girls in Engineering, Math, & Science

February 21, 2017  |  Event List, news

What an AMAZING day!  When we asked our girls their favorite part it was EVERYTHING!  When we asked them what they wanted to invent or solve we heard – stop pollution, cancer, make robots, and more.

Check out our video of the day.

Thank you to our sponsors FMCCS, Duke Energy Foundation, Regional Opportunity Initiative, Technology Service Corporation, and Johnson Controls.

FMCCS and MCCSC will host our first annual Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science (GEMS) conference.  The conference is for girls in grades 5th  and 6th in Monroe County.  Girls will have the opportunity work with female role models and enjoy the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)!

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow – please enter through the main lobby doors marked N1.

The morning will open with a Career Expo from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM.  At the expo, girls and their families can explore and learn more about STEM career opportunities.  If you are interested in exhibiting please let us know by either downloading this form and returning to our office OR completing the Career Expo google form.

After the Career Expo girls will be divided into small groups to work with female experts in STEM education and industry.  Groups will participate in five hands-on activities in the fields of engineering design, chemistry, biology, forensic science, technology, and math.

Our presenters are Baxter, Cook Pharmica, Cook Medical, TASUS, IU Chemistry, IU Physics, IU Math and Education, Indiana State Police Forensics, MCCSC Educators from Bloomington High School North, Academy of Science & Entrepreneurship, Hoosier Hills Career Center,
