Beth Piekarsky, a teacher at University Elementary, is dancing her way through the school house. Mrs. P. is learning to ballroom dance to raise money for her passion – Literacy!
Today in MCCSC schools, over 30% of all students read below grade level. These students sit at desks across our district and they are falling behind. Without action, they are likely to drop out of school and face a life none of us would wish on our children. It is an indisputable fact. Students who read at grade level by third grade are poised for success. Studies show they are more likely to graduate from high school, make more money, vote, volunteer, raise healthy children, and succeed in life.
Mrs. Piekarsky wants to ensure that all students in the MCCSC get the services they need to read at grade level, and you can help! On May 21, 2011, she’ll take the stage with other local celebrities in the Bloomington Dancing with the Celebrities Competition to be held at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Every dollar raised will help provide literacy resources and services to local students and every dollar counts as a vote for Beth. Beth’s goal is to WIN, but she can only achieve this goal with your support. If you believe in Beth and the students of MCCSC, click on Make a Donation and cast your vote!
All money raised will support Literacy programs for MCCSC students.
